Frequently Asked Questions

What happens to my current file now that Amy is moving to Caron & Partners?

Your file will continue to be handled with the same care and confidentiality as always. The Law Society of Alberta requires that no file moves without your written consent, so you will receive a formal notice giving you clear options.

You may:

  • Continue with Amy at Caron & Partners

  • Keep your file and seek other representation

  • Request your file be returned to you

  • Nothing will change without your direction.

Will there be any pause or delay in my legal matter because of this transition?

No. Existing client matters remain a priority. The move has been planned specifically to minimize disruption, and Amy will continue working through December to ensure all active matters progress smoothly. In early January, your file will transition seamlessly into the Caron & Partners system (if you choose to continue with her).

Will Amy still be handling my file personally after she joins the new firm?

Yes. Your lawyer does not change — only the administrative support team does. You will continue working directly with Amy, with the added benefit of a larger firm’s infrastructure, billing department, and support systems.

Will my fees change when Amy joins Caron & Partners?

Any fee structure changes (if applicable) will be clearly explained before they take effect.
Many clients experience no significant change at all. If your matter continues into the new year, you’ll receive written communication outlining:

  • The billing process

  • Trust fund procedures

  • Hourly or fixed-fee details (if different)
